WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A Florida teenager has been sentenced to 18 months in juvenile detention for coaxing his senile grandmother into holding a gun and threatening to shoot “all the pigs” in a homemade “gangster rap” video.
Eighteen-year-old Michael Alfinez pleaded guilty Tuesday to elder abuse charges. His family has said the case was a misunderstanding.
The 85-year-old grandmother can be seen in the video holding a handgun, wearing a black mask and threatening to shoot “all the pigs.”
Alfinez was arrested in April after authorities seized the tape during a routine traffic stop. Alfinez and others also could be seen in the video shooting a pistol around town.
Alfinez also pleaded guilty to charges of firing out of a moving vehicle and into a building.

Vietnam suspends plan to ban small-chested drivers
HANOI, Vietnam – Faced with mounting public criticism, Vietnam’s Health Ministry suspended a widely ridiculed plan to ban short, thin and small-chested drivers.
The ministry had recommended that people whose chests measure less than 28 inches be prohibited from driving motorbikes — as well as those who are too short (less than 4 -foot-8) or too thin (less than 88 pounds).
When the media revealed the plan this week, it prompted disbelief and scorn among members of the public, who envisioned the police pulling over female drivers to measure their breasts.

Maryland probation and parole officials have made a slight change to the sign that child sex offenders will be required to display on their doors on Halloween.
Signs sent to 1,200 offenders earlier this month show an orange pumpkin and the words “No candy at this residence.” Now the state is giving the offenders the option of displaying a sign with the same words but without a pumpkin.
Correctional services spokesman Rick Binetti says the change is not an admission that the original sign doesn’t work. He adds that jokes that aired recently on late-night television programs didn’t drive the decision to remove the pumpkin image.
Maryland sex offenders who do not stay home on Halloween and post one sign or the other could be charged with a violation of parole.
